To karatekas aspiring to sharpen their skills, this seminar would be monumental to their experience in their career as a martial artist. On March 24, 2020, the Japan Karate Shotorenmei – Philippines Branch will welcome Masao Kagawa – Shihan, the Chief instructor of Japan Karate Shotorenmei (an international organization of karate), to hold said seminar. To say the least, he is a living legend in the world of karate because of his active participation in tournaments in his time as a kata and kumite player (spanning from 1978 to 1991) as well as his proficiency in instructing karate. Should one need to verify this, a quick internet search would prove such as some seminars in other countries prior to this are documented. Moreover, some footage of his kata and kumite days could be found online. With this in mind, all shotokan-style karatekas who are aware of this is being invited to this event. It is also suggested that some self-preparation be undertaken because the seminar would encompass the three pillars of karate: kihon, kata, and kumite. As such, the seminar is centered on the reinforcement of fundamentals in order for it to be applied in a karateka’s training regiment.
It is without question that whoever is interested in this occasion has found karate to be a significant aspect in his/her life. This seminar is guaranteed to improve one’s perspective towards the art, and even some fundamentals that may have been overlooked in order to give more meaning to this everyday practice. There would always be room for improvement when it comes to the life of a karate, for the mountain of perfection is without a peak. Therefore, to all shotokan karatekas who hear this, prepare for a day of hard training so that one may redefine and improve his/her understanding of the discipline so that he/she may come out a better person by the end of the day.
